The boys do the majority of their work online using the PLATO education system. This allows each boy to have individualized education picking up and moving forward from where they are. Many of the boys that have come to Tipton and are behind in school have been able to get caught up and even ahead in many cases. In addition to academic education the boys are also taught social skills, and the value of completing a task and taking pride in their work.
The boys have completed many service projects for the community, and have participated in construction projects on campus. Boys have learned how to sheetrock, lay tile, frame, in addition to welding. The opportunities for all of these skills are not all available to all boys, as projects and needs of the campus and community vary from day to day.
